Our first blog! OMG!

I have contemplated for a while what to write for our first blog! I figured I am just going to do it and see what I can come up with, so bare with me on this crazy adventure it is what it is. I am coming on here just to be as transparent as possible And to give a little background and put look on what Jake and I are all about !

I want to explain how we got started and why we do what we do. Back in 2014 I got my first DSLR camera for Christmas . Shortly after My friend at work got engaged at the beginning of 2015 and she wanted us to do their engagement photos. Understand at this time I was just a girl with a camera that I had no idea how to use. 😂 Jake and I took the challenge and watched every YouTube video that we possibly could to learn lighting, how to pose couples, and how to use the camera correctly. Later that week we took our friends Shelby and Josh out to Camp Longhorn and started their engagement session. We had so much fun and their photos were actually turning out great! When we started editing their photos I was so surprised and super excited but still was not thinking about starting a company it was just a hobby.... right?!

The next day at work Shelby and I sat there and she said, “Destiny y’all need to start your own company! We had so much fun with our photos” So we started to bounce business names off of each other and we were just laughing through it all. After I left work and Jake got home we actually started thinking about it and how this could be a side hustle to bring in more income for our family. We decided to run with it and just see where this crazy idea would take us. After months of shooting family, seniors, newborns... etc. Jake and I got a call from a family friend and she continued to tell us their wedding photographer cancelled on them 2 weeks from their wedding without a refund. We said sure we will do it.... it can’t be that hard right... WRONG!

In those next two weeks leading up to the wedding Jake and I both upgraded our cameras and lens and got everything that we could possibly need to shoot a wedding correctly because at the end of the day we always want our clients to have the best product we can deliver.

We made it through that wedding and decided that we could possibly have a new business going in the right direction . We are a husband and wife team , Jake could make the groom comfortable and I could do the same for the bride. So for the next 3 years we shot as much as we could not only weddings but anything you could possibly think of we did. We would have our weekends full some weekends had 12 sessions all day form Saturday to Sunday while we still both had full time jobs during the week. Something that we literally just stumbled into became our dream and started to make an impact in our life very quickly.

After a while I was able to get out of my full time job and about a year later Jake was able to come out of his. That will be a blog for another time. It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows but it has been worth it! Our dream of course is to be successful in all aspects of life. We strive to be the best at what ever we do, But at the end of the day it is our goal to make every single one of our clients to feel heard and let them have a great experience that they will remember it forever!

It is our desire to serve our clients As much as we can . I have literally gotten on my hands and knees to help a bride clean off her feet for a bare foot shot. Granted feet do not bother me that much but that just shows you how much we are there for you! I have seen Jake holding umbrellas while getting soaked for grooms and also guest to make sure EVERYONE at the wedding will have a great experience. Our job goes way beyond the cameras and edits.. it is our job to make you and your guest feel comfortable and have fun!

Thank you so much for taking time to read this. It is the first of many I am sure! We have a lot of ideas , tips and just fun blogs that we want to share with all of you.
